History

We are Oregon Child Development Coalition, a non-profit organization established in 1971, which grew out of a statewide, collaborative response to a tragic farm accident involving the death of a young child. The care and needs of children of migrant farmworkers are incredibly difficult during Oregon’s peak agricultural months because their parents are working all day in the fields. Originally incorporated under the name The Migrant Indian Coalition, the mission of the organization was to ensure access to early childhood care and education opportunities for Oregon’s migrant farm workers.

In the many years that have passed since the organization’s founding, we have evolved into one of the largest early childhood care and education service providers in Oregon, not to mention the state’s 6th largest non-profit organization. Each year the Oregon Child Development Coalition serves over 4,000 children and families in need in 15 Oregon counties.

Honoring our roots and looking confidently into the future, we remain committed to excellence around providing early childhood care and education opportunities to children and families in need to promote growth and independence.
